Red Chili Sauce
Hey, how you guys doing today? I hope you’re enjoying the recipes. If you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear them.
How about a little change of color and flavor today? Here’s a very versatile red chili sauce that you can put together quickly and it has unlimited uses.
You will need…
- 2 tablespoons oil (traditionally bacon droppings are used)
- 4 tablespoons flour
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoon red chili powder
- 2 cups cold water
- salt to taste
Heat your oil and add the flour. Cook until mixture bubbles. Add cold water (using cold water will help prevent lumps in your sauce) and whisk until it bubbles again. Turn heat down to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes. This sauce scorches easily so stir that pot often. That’s it; it doesn’t get any easier than that. Enjoy.
This red chili sauce is great over fried potatoes and eggs for breakfast. Add a little ground meat and serve up some southwestern style chili dogs or chili burgers and fries. Put your imagination to work, your taste buds will thank you.
If you ain’t sweatin, it ain’t chili,
